14 - Health Update

Hello and welcome to the Gold Forest English Podcast. My name is Jordan, and it’s been a while since I last recorded a podcast. I’ve recently been suffering with some health problems—some minor health problems—which have made me a bit lazy and made me uninspired to record a new podcast… but I wanted to record one, so here I am today. I am recording one for you.

So, this year—2025—I will be… later this year… I will be turning 37 years old, which is a very… feels like a big number. Over the last couple of years, since I hit around 35 years old, I have definitely noticed my physical age more so than I have ever, ever noticed before. I’ve always been fairly healthy—a fairly healthy person—even though I don’t eat very healthily. I definitely eat a lot of junk food, lots of cakes and sweets. And fortunately, I’ve been able to… most of my life, I’ve been able to control my… my body weight, despite eating lots of unhealthy things. However, over the last couple of years—since I was around 34, 35—I’ve definitely noticed my body aging more, which is normal, of course… much easier to put on weight and getting more aches and pains and things like that. And I’ve definitely had this realization that I need to take care of my body better. I need to eat more responsibly—fruits and vegetables and things like that—and just generally take care of my health more and more.

And over the last couple of months, I have experienced these different aging-related physical things, which is normal, as I said. But during the last month, I’ve suffered with some allergies—some food allergies and possible… possible, like material, chemical, fabric allergy as well. I went to a skin clinic and had an allergy test, and they found a… a mild allergy to wheat, which was—it was only mild—so the doctor said that I should be able to eat things as normal without too much of an issue, but just don’t consume a lot of wheat, for example… which was a bit surprising to me because I had never had an allergy in my life before. It had suddenly developed, and wheat—things like bread and cakes and cookies—of course, these are my favorite things to eat, so I was very disappointed that I was being told that I should cut down on these items.

So, I’ve had this mild allergy to wheat, but also I seem to have a more severe allergy to something else, which was not included in my initial allergy test. So I hope to go and have a more full allergy test in a hospital, and hopefully I can find this other item… other thing that I am allergic to, because I have had severe skin… skin problems with swollen lips and dry, cracked skin from eating some specific type of ingredient, but I’m not sure what the ingredient is. So, at the moment, I’m trying to eat much more carefully to avoid possible allergic reactions.

So it’s just… something that makes me—I’ve been feeling—I’ve been feeling my age more recently. And I know that I’m still fairly young, but I think my… my many years of eating unhealthily are catching up to me. And now, I… at 36 years old, I have to make this more conscious decision to take care of my body more and eat more responsibly… eat more healthily… and not just do whatever I want when it comes to food. So, quite a… quite a significant shift in my… in my approach to food, I think. Ultimately, a good one, even if it’s a bit… a bit painful as having to say goodbye to so many of my favorite things and cut down on so many of my favorite foods and drinks. I think it… of course, it will be worthwhile if my—if I’m keeping—keeping my strength up and keeping my health, I… of course, it will be worthwhile.

So that’s just pretty much where I am physically at the moment. I hope you are doing well. I hope you are feeling healthy and keeping well no matter where you are in your life—young or old—I hope you are keeping well.

All right. Thank you very much for listening. I’ll see you in the next episode.
